Because every Holotype piece is produced on demand for the specific Curator who acquired it, our return policy is narrower than that of a warehouse retailer. We replace what arrives wrong; we do not restock what doesn’t fit.
What we replace, at no cost to you
- Damaged in transit. If your package arrives crushed, water-damaged, or with the print marred, we’ll send a replacement. Photograph the damage within 48 hours and email support@holotype.shop.
- Manufacturing defects. Mis- aligned print, wrong color, wrong size on the inside tag, holes, stitching errors. Same 48-hour photo requirement.
- Wrong item shipped. If you received a different SKU than you ordered, we’ll send the right one and arrange a prepaid return label for the wrong piece.
What we cannot return
- Pieces ordered in the wrong size. Size guides are linked on every product page; please review them before ordering. Exchanges due to fit are not possible because the original piece cannot be resold.
- Pieces that have been worn, washed, or visibly used (other than defects discoverable only after wearing).
- Buyer’s-remorse returns. We do not restock or accept returns of made-to-order goods that arrived as described.
How to start a claim
Within 48 hours of delivery, email support@holotype.shop with:
- Your order number (e.g. HOLO-2026-000123).
- Photos of the issue (clear, well-lit, showing the defect).
- A brief description of what went wrong.
We respond within two business days. If the claim is approved we arrange a replacement; you do not need to ship anything back unless we specifically request it.
Refunds
Where a replacement is not possible (item discontinued, out of stock at the printer), we refund the full amount you paid — including original shipping — to the original payment method. Refunds typically appear in your statement within 5–10 business days of issue.
First Edition specifics
Replacements of First Edition pieces preserve the original serial number; the Registry record is updated to reflect the replacement without affecting your provenance.
Cancelations
Orders can be canceled for a full refund within 30 minutes of placement, before production begins. After that window the order has entered production with our fulfillment partner and cannot be canceled.
